Shorts to Skirt DIY


A while back I turned a skirt into a pair of shorts (see post). This time I did the opposite. 

This was a whole lot easier.

I basically ripped out the center seam, turned the shorts inside out, and sewed along the dashed lines as shown below: 


I cut off the excess and hemmed as necessary. And that was it! 

Cost of project? Just the shorts, which I thrifted here for $3.50. And it has pockets! :)

  1. That is so cute! That is one of my new favorite colors, too. Next time I go to the thrift store, I am going to look for some old lady shorts to make into skirts. And I love that it has pockets. So handy!

  11. I love this post. I just had some old shorts given to me and thought "skirt" but couldn't get my mind wrapped around how best to make that happen. Then I searched on Pinterest for someone who might have already done it and found your post. Yay! Thanks so much for taking the time to post this. It looks so easy that, like Niki, I too will be looking for shorts at the thrift stores.
